"Bound by no rules and for myself alone." - Anne Ryan
This quote reminds me that art is personal, both for the creator and the viewer.
I love to give shape, color and texture to the intangible; to make visible the effects that certain sounds, sights and encounters have had on me. Abstract painting allows me to do that, whether I'm working intuitively or deliberately. I lose all sense of time and distractions tend to disappear when I'm immersed in the process.
Much of my work involves beeswax, resin and pigment using either encaustic methods or cold wax techniques. The use of beeswax in art dates back centuries. You can read more about the history and the processes here and here.
Originally from Rome, NY I currently live in Rochester, NY where I maintain a studio at the Hungerford Building.
